Rob Smith: Hednesford Town in peril
Hednesford boss Rob Smith claims the Pitmen are battling against the odds as they head for Harrogate without cancer-hit midfielder Kris Taylor.
Taylor had surgery yesterday after being diagnosed with testicular cancer and faces a lengthy spell of treatment.
Smith, who has also seen Elliott Durrell and Nathan Blissett leave Keys Park and lost Jamey Osborne to injury, believes his team's promotion hopes could be seriously hit.
Smith said: "Our main concern is Kris' health and we are all wishing him a speedy recovery. It means we are without another really key player who, ironically, had been coming into his best run of form before he got this news.
"With that coming on the back of Elliott Durrell signing for Wrexham, Nathan Blissett being recalled by Kidderminster and Jamey Osborne suffering a hamstring injury, it is a massive blow to us in football terms.
"We will continue doing everything we can to get the results we need, but whether that is enough remains to be seen."
