Seven heaven for Stourbridge

Stourbridge were once more in seventh heaven last night as they thumped Frome Town 7-0.

The Glassboys bounced back from two straight league defeats with a scintillating performance at the War Memorial – the second time they have hit seven at home this season – to move up to sixth place in the Calor Premier.

Sean Geddes struck a hat-trick, while there were also goals from Kayelden Brown, Will Richards, Jamie Oliver and Luke Benbow in the final home game before Christmas.

Gary Hackett's men had already earned a reputation as big scorers this season thanks to 7-0 wins over Weymouth and a 9-0 thumping of Chippenham Town.

Last night's haul took them past the 50-barrier for the season, just 19 games in.

They were again in devastating form, taking control of the game from the start before Geddes put them ahead on 15 minutes.

Benbow doubled the advantage with a smart finish before Geddes put them three-up just past the half-hour when he thumped home a spot-kick after Brown had been fouled. The midfielder then completed his treble just before the break when he crashed a loose ball into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.

Brown, Richards and Oliver then completed the rout in the second half, as Frome had Tim Stephenson sent off for a reckless challenge.
