FA Cup history the target for Rushall Olympic FC
Boss Neil Kitching today urged Rushall to make FA Cup history.
The Pics have never reached the first round but are just 90 minutes away after landing a trip to Grimsby in the fourth qualifying round.
They beat Stockport 1-0 on Saturday after being given a reprieve following Gainsborough's ejection for fielding an ineligible player in their 2-0 win over Rushall in the second qualifying round.
"For the club it's about making some history and getting to the first round but it's also for the players," said Kitching.
"We get through this tie and we could be on TV against one of the big clubs like Walsall, Wolves, Sheffield United or Coventry. It's suddenly on a national stage and it's magnificent for the club, but I want them to give a good account of themselves as individuals.
"You'd want a home draw as we haven't played at home in the FA Cup for two or three seasons.
"Going away will be hard and there's no bigger than Grimsby at this stage but we'll have a right good go. Financially for the club it's going to be another good day."
And, after Jimmy Turner's second-half winner at Edgeley Park, Kitching said: "I felt Stockport underestimated us. Hopefully Grimsby take us lightly too."
