Chaos reigned at Halesowen Town as a dog invaded the pitch during their Evo-Stik Premier clash against Skelmersdale United.

The canine caper was the best in show at The Grove, running onto the field of play and dodging several players.

Stewards and the apparent owners of the dog also made their way onto the pitch and, after wreaking havoc for around six minutes, Halesowen defender Asa Charlton managed to usher the furry friend off and play resumed.

Boss John Hill admits the incident drove him barking mad at the time but, after watching a speeded-up clip produced by the club's own Yeltz TV, sees the funny side of it.

"It may have been really frustrating at the time but it's all good fun," he said.

"Asa managed to get the dog off the pitch, and I do believe it was Asa's family dog."
