Report: Hednesford Town 1 Stockport 2

Hednesford Town hearts were broken in the most cruel of circumstances after two stoppage-time goals saw three points slip away.

Frank Sinclair's team selection for the game had been disrupted by football's governing body FIFA.

They had not granted international clearance for Jonathan Royle – their new recruit from Wrexham – to play.

The ruling came even though the player had been correctly registered with the National League last Monday.

Stockport threatened in the fourth minute when Richard Brodie fired wide, before John Marsden saw his shot saved by goalkeeper Dan Crane five minutes later.

The visitors had another half-chance in the 14th minute when Wade Joyce shot wide from the edge of the box.

Town struck in the 72nd minute when Glover's venomous free-kick was saved at the expense of a corner. Ben Bailey met the flag-kick and sent a powerful header into the top corner.

But, in time added on, a free-kick lofted into the Hednesford penalty area was headed against the post by Kayode Odejayi and substitute Obi Anorou hooked the rebound into the net.

The Pitmen lost possession at the restart and Odejayi picked up a long ball and lifted it over the advancing Crane.
