Leon Broadhurst clocks up his latest milestone as his side look to make the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy at Nantwich Town tomorrow.

Bromsgrove-born Broadhurst, who holds the club record at Amblecote, played his testimonial in the 2013-14 season and now, at 31, admits he has not once thought about finishing.

Broadhurst has played across defence and midfield during his long Glassboys career.

He said: "I want to play as long as possible but I'm a realist. I give it my max every game. I haven't thought about finishing at all. I don't want to give up football.

"I'm fitter than ever and playing some of my best football. I feel honoured and privileged.

"I'm very determined and a naturally fit lad. I've been lucky along the way with injuries – touch wood – but I love being fit, it's a hobby."

Across his 13 years at the club, Broadhurst – father to Pia, 4, and Lena, 2 – has been part of several memorable cup runs.

He's seen the club rise from Midland Alliance level to pushing for a National League spot.

He added: "We're not like a normal non-league side now. We're still non-league but we're everybody's scalp. They all want to beat us and we have to have that on our shoulders.

"The club has come on leaps and bounds in its time under Gary. It's quite unbelievable. I've had some great experience with the fans and the crowds are growing.

"I'd love to play Conference football with this club. I'm very lucky to have such a family.

"I reckon Pia has only missed two games in four years. My wife Emma and mum and dad never miss a game. They go everywhere."

The Barclays Bank worker admits that while runs in the FA Cup and Trophy have almost become part of the club's fabric, he would swap all of the memories in a heartbeat.

Broadhurst announced: "I'd scrap all of the runs for a play-off spot. If we play like we can, we can come out victorious."
