Whitby Town 2 Halesowen Town 1

Halesowen Town suffered their third league defeat in a row but, at least, managed to score, with all three goals in the game coming in eight second-half minutes.

Shaun Rowley in the Halesowen goal kept the hosts at bay at times early on, with a double save from Mikey Roberts and Matty Waters particularly impressive.

Malcolm Melvin went close for Halesowen but his shot was blocked by Richard Pell.

Roberts missed an open goal at the start of the second half but made no mistake moments later when he latched onto a through ball from Adam Gell and saw his low angled shot go into the net.

Kaiman Anderson equalised for Halesowen on 57 minutes when he broke and saw his shot blocked by the legs of goalkeeper Shane Bland, with the ball looping into the goal.

The action was non-stop in this spell as Roberts saw a mis-hit shot squeeze past Rowley for what proved to be the winner.

It's a result which lifts the home side out of the bottom four of the Evo-Stik Premier, but leaves Halesowen in 14th place ahead of Saturday's visit of Salford City.
