Boss tells Pitmen to cut out the errors

Manager Bernard McNally is looking for his Hednesford Town side to eradicate 'silly mistakes' ahead of their trip to Tamworth.

The Pitmen lost 4-2 to Nuneaton Town at Keys Park last weekend, giving away two penalties after levelling the scores.

They have lost three of their last four games in all competitions, and are currently 12th in the National League North table.

McNally insists his side cannot afford to make similar errors against sixth-placed Tamworth at the Lamb Ground.

He said: "We've had a few tough games recently and we know this one is going to be tough as well.

"As long as we don't make silly mistakes, if we can eradicate those we could come away with the spoils.

"You can't legislate for errors like that – we poorly gave away a penalty last week, but we will lick our wounds and go again.

"We're looking forward to the game and hopefully we can cause an upset."

Midfielder Tom Thorley is a major doubt for Hednesford and McNally has a couple of other injuries to assess before the game.

He added: "We've got a few injury problems, a couple have got niggles, but whatever team we field will go out there positive and trying to get the result."
