After four minutes, Joe Halsall and Stan Mugisha combined to square the ball to Ryan Wynter who side-footed home from close range.

Five minutes later, the Scholars doubled their advantage after a calamitous mix-up between Carlton defender Kieran Walker and goalkeeper Jack Steggles gifted Mugisha an open goal.

The hosts almost shocked their way back into the game with a speculative effort from Jake Wholey, which rattled goalkeeper John Bateman's post.

Carlton eventually broke through in the 75th minute. Wholey slid the ball into the path of Daniel Gordon, who fired across Bateman.

Chase substitute Nick Turton turned sharply to fire beyond Steggles to restore Chasetown's two-goal advantage.

The Millers reduced the arrears again when Gordon's free-kick was flicked home by sub Romaine Graham, but the Scholars held on.
