Halesowen Town recorded a fifth victory over lucky-charm side Matlock in just over 12 months in a five-goal second-half.

Manager John Hill admitted his side made hard work at times of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League win.

Danny Bragoli and Reece Hales were both denied when free on goal, as Halesowen gained the upper hand towards half-time.

But Matlock's defence nodded off as the Yeltz raced into a two-goal lead early in the second period.

Joe Hull volleyed home the opening goal in the 47th minute from an Aaron Griffiths corner. Bragoli soon doubled the lead when put clear, just six minutes later, by Keyon Refell's flick.

He tapped home a rebound, after his first shot was parried away by Matlock goalkeeper George Willis.

The Gladiators made a triple substitution and reduced the deficit when captain Danny Holland nodded home a cross from Niall McManus after 69 minutes.

Home substitute Greg Pearson made the points safe for Halesowen by heading in a Griffiths free-kick in the 87th minute, although there was still time for Holland to complete his Matlock brace.
