Be quick off the mark, Flowers tells Harriers
Tim Flowers has called on Kidderminster Harriers to improve on their openings to games as they remain in search for an elusive National League victory.
Braintree Town, who sit 10th with ten points, are tomorrow's visitors and Flowers knows the simple errors need to be eradicated.
Harriers showed plenty of heart to come from two-goals down for the second time this season in the draw at Tranmere Rovers, but the coach insisted they must begin brighter.
He said: "We need to start games well as well as finishing strongly.
"We were very good at times at Tranmere. We passed and moved quickly and you could feel the momentum swing. The lads created umpteen chances and we certainly carried that into a fine second-half.
"But I'm sick to death of saying how great we are doing even though we're going behind. We've been ahead once all season at Gateshead, where we were very good.
"The next game against Forest Green we were very poor.
"It is just a case of general poor play. It would be nice to be able to get our noses in front. The first goal is always crucial and it can then dictate your game plan.
"Free headers and simple clearances all need eradicating."
But the former goalkeeper remains positive about Harriers' ambitions this season.
"The players have their heart and soul in it and there is no doubt about that.
"On paper it looks as if we have played a lot of the big teams and nothing I've seen so far has blown my socks off.
"We need to begin respecting ourselves more and understanding that we are a good team. Adam (Dawson) is a very dangerous player and the two WBA lads (Andre Wright and Tahvon Campbell) are lively.
"Stychey and Singh have been great. We are showing what damage we can do to defences in this division.
"We respect Braintree. They've been in this division a while and the report we had was very good. I hope this week we can get that win in front of our home fans."
Harriers hope to have injured skipper Kelvin Langmead back for Saturday's home game with Braintree.
