It came with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Rugby Town, after three consecutive defeats.

The first points of Thorpe and Male's tenure came thanks to an exciting second-half, where substitute Chris Sterling's double edged Tivi over the line.

The Beeches side got their home clash off to the best possible start, with Demetri Brown curling in a six-minute lead.

Midway through the half, the lively Brown was tripped in the box and winger Ashley Jackson stepped up to double the lead from the spot.

But nine calamitous second-half minutes saw Tom Ryan and Tom Liversage pull the visitors level.

With 20 minutes remaining, super-sub Sterling kept his cool to put Tivi back in-front before Rugby were again level through skipper Steve Towers.

Sterling then pounced onto a through ball from kick-off and finished well once more as the hosts collected a vital three points.
