Dave Stringer named new Chasetown boss

Chasetown have announced that former Rugby Town boss Dave Stringer is the new first-team manager at the Scholars Ground.

Stringer was in charge of Rugby Town for five years, finishing Northern Premier League Division One South runners-up twice in the last three seasons.

He replaces Marcus Law at the Scholars, who announced he was to take the vacant job at Kettering Town last month.

Law had taken over midway through last season following Craig Harris' departure.

The former Tamworth boss chief Chasetown away from relegation and to the Walsall Senior Cup final, where they lost narrowly to Walsall.

Stringer, whose Butlin Road side only managed a disappointing sixth in the Southern League Central Division, had playing spells at Leicester City, Nuneaton, Hinckley and Barwell among others.

He had jobs in charge at Coalville Town and Shepshed Dynamo before taking the reigns at Rugby Town.

Scholars chief executive Mike Joiner said: "We are very pleased to get Mike on board, he comes with a wealth of knowledge at our level of football.

"We had a large number of applications and have been delighted with the high quality of candidate and we believe that, in Dave, we have made the right choice for the club to push on and gain promotion."
