Garry Hackett: Stourbridge need to maintain momentum
Stourbridge chief Gary Hackett today revealed he is targeting new recruits as he looks to avoid a pre-Cup slump.
They host Frome tonight after Saturday's frustrating 2-0 defeat to Arlesey at The War Memorial Ground.
And Hackett wants to maintain their momentum following another FA Cup second round exit to Stevenage this month.
When the Glassboys last made the FA Cup second round in 2011 – losing 3-0 to Stevenage – they suffered a blip in the league and missed out on the play-offs on goal difference.
Hackett said: "I'm very wary of it but I don't want to look for any excuses, it's easy for me to say it but the lads just under performed on Saturday.
"Over the next couple of weeks I'll look to strengthen the squad. Anyone can strengthen the squad but it's about bringing the right players in. We have targets but it's sometimes hard to convince players to drop down from the Conference or to find that little nugget."
Hackett is expected to name an unchanged squad and is hunting a response from the weekend.
He added: "It was a disappointing performance. Their goalkeeper was man of the match and we did put a lot of pressure on them but the first half performance was not good enough and we're looking to bounce back."
