Dele Adebola bids to inspire Rushall Olympic

The 38-year-old will lead the Pics' attack at Blundell Park as they attempt to book their maiden appearance in the first round by upsetting their Conference hosts.

But Adebola believes Neil Kitching's players should have double motivation when the Northern League Premier Division outfit look add the Mariners' scalp to their third qualifying round win at Stockport.

"My message to them is 'don't drop your standards'," said the former Birmingham forward. "We did tremendously well against Stockport and, no matter what happens against Grimsby, there will be some big teams watching.

"Someone might be alerted to their potential or it could help them get a good move, so that's a great incentive.

"I still enjoy football but I look for something different now.

"It's not about scoring loads of goals and the personal glory anymore – I just want to see some of these younger lads progress and enjoy the career I have.

"It would just be amazing for me if one or two of our young lads made a name for themselves against Grimsby tomorrow."

Around 100 fans are expected to travel to Lincolnshire to see the Pics attempt to set up a potential first-round clash with Football League opponents.

And Adebola said: "Hopefully we can take them by surprise. We're going to enjoy the occasion and see what we can get from it. None of us will be daunted by the prospect, that's for sure.

"It's not going to be an easy game for Grimsby. We're going to get about them and cause them some problems.

"It's a game for us to relish, especially with Grimsby being two divisions higher. Of course, though, you've got to be realistic. Grimsby are a top-five Conference side and no one's expecting us to go there and get anything."
