Free season tickets are being offered to hundreds of young fans to draw in crowds and secure the long-term future of Darlaston Town FC, it was announced today.

The non-league football club, which is believed to be the second oldest in the country, is aiming to generate at least £2,000 from the initiative.

Up to 500 season tickets are being offered to under 14s in a bid to encourage them to attend matches with a parent and raise much needed funds.

Fears over the future of the club, formed in 1874, were raised earlier this year but bosses managed to find the cash for the costs of outstanding fees and fines.

It is £4 for adult tickets. It is hoped the scheme will help meet the £12,000 running costs for the season.
