Rogers asked to be substituted with 12 minutes remaining at Villa Park after taking a kick and has been assessed by Villa’s medical staff.

The 22-year-old has been an integral part of Emery’s team this season, starting every Premier League match when available.

Emery said: "Morgan is playing a lot of minutes because physically he can get it. Today he had a kick and asked me to replace him. Hopefully he can play on Tuesday against Palace."

Tyrone Mings is also being assessed after appearing to tweak a knee problem in the second half of Saturday’s win. Villa will have on loan Chelsea defender Axel Disasi available on Tuesday after he was unable to play against his parent club.

Emery, at least, has no shortage of options in attack after Marcus Rashford came off the bench to set up both goals for fellow loanee Marco Asensio, as Villa came from behind to beat Chelsea.

Donyell Malen and Leon Bailey were also introduced in the second half and Emery said: "They are versatile players. Malen played right wing and then striker. Rashford is playing left side, but he can do both. Morgan too.

“It is good to have versatile players and specific players, like Bailey and Jacob Ramsey on the left side, Ollie Watkins. We have to get 90 minutes with starting players and players coming off the bench making an impact."
