The 21-year-old has joined in a deal worth around £6million and is viewed as a player with considerable potential by Villa’s scouting staff.

Garcia has not played higher than the Spanish Second Division in his young career to date but Villa think he could eventually become a key player in the Premier League.

Boss Unai Emery has been keen to strengthen his options with Matty Cash the only senior right-back on the club’s books.

It is not clear whether Garcia, who can also operate as a right winger, wil be immediately involved in the first-team set-up.

Villa have already signed winger Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund for £21m this month and are eager to strike a deal for Sevilla centre-back Loic Bade.

But the latter will depend on selling Diego Carlos with the Brazilian’s protracted move to Fenerbahce still to be completed.

Reports Wolves had made a late bid to sign Carlos, who Villa value at around £10m, are thought to be wide of the mark.
