The 31-year-old midfielder, who last week became a proud father to baby Leon, fired Villa ahead in the 58th minute against the Foxes.
Barkley celebrated his third Premier League goal of the season by shoving the ball up his shirt and later explained: "A week ago I had my first child so I said I would do that if I scored, I am happy I was able to do that."
His goal injected life into what had been a dull affair to that point and Villa were indebted to another Leon - their Jamaica international winger Bailey - who netted the winner with 14 minutes remaining after Stephy Mavididi had equalised for the visitors.
