Aston Villa v Crystal Palace: Palace looking for just second win of campaign

Crystal Palace return to action tomorrow having had their mini-resurgence somewhat checked just before the international break.

Despite successive draws early in the season with Chelsea, Leicester City and Manchester United, it took the Eagles until October 27 to pick up their only Premier League win of the season so far.

That was followed by a Carabao Cup success at a Villa side featuring wholesale changes.

They then appeared on course to beat relegation rivals Wolves, only to throw away the lead, and then needed a late equaliser from Marc Guehi to snatch a point.

And last time out they were beaten at home by Fulham to remain entrenched in the bottom three, a point behind newly-promoted.

Palace have been affected by a long injury list, but boss Oliver Glasner was not making any excuses after the Fulham reverse.

"I don't look for excuses,” he said.

“I think we had a competitive squad available. We have to be honest, Fulham were the better team.

"We made too many mistakes, we gave them the chances and goals too easily.

"When we had our two or three chances we didn't take them. Overall they were the better team and this is what we have to expect.

"Palace hope to have star men Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton back available after they missed games before the international break, though Daichi Kamada is unavailable after being sent off against Fulham.

Matheus Franca is out until the new year, while Chadi Riad, Eddie Nketiah and Jefferson Lerma are all battling to be fit for the trip to Villa.

Former Arsenal defender Rob Holding has also been frozen out by Glasner.

He is yet to make his Premier League debut for the Eagles, despite signing in the summer of 2023 for £4million.
