Ramsey was forced off just before half-time with a hamstring injury, while Kamara also complained of pain after coming on as a late substitute at Anfield.

Boss Unai Emery is hoping neither issue is serious with Villa now facing a break before their next match against Crystal Palace on Saturday week.

Emery should be able to call on both Ross Barkley (hamstring) and Matty Cash (calf) when the campaign resumes but the injury to Ramsey in particular is cause for concern.

The 23-year-old missed a large chunk of last season with a foot problem and Emery said: “He was feeling something in his hamstring. Kamara as well he felt something on a run back he did.

“Of course, we are playing a lot of matches but they (players) are always at risk of injuries. We have to accept it.

“They are injured now Ramsey, hopefully not Kamara. Coming back for the next match is hopefully Cash and Ross Barkley.”

Saturday’s defeat was Villa’s fourth in a row in all competitions, their worst run since Emery took charge two years ago.

“Obviously the result is not good,” he said. “But how we played in 90 minutes trying to be competitive to get points here, it was more or less the plan we had.”
