Unai Emery’s team face Club Brugge in Belgium tonight aiming to make it a perfect four wins from four in their first season back in Europe’s elite club competition.
It will be a particularly special occasion for £50million club record signing Onana, his first ever professional club match in his home country in a career which only sparked once he had moved to German club Hoffenheim as a teenager.
The 23-year-old, who moved to Belgium from Senegal as a child, has been capped 22 times by the national team but it is not only on the pitch he is making a difference.
Onana has a charity in Belgium called Solidarite Grands Froid which looks after the homeless. He and his sister also run an academy in Senegal and as his career has continued to blossom, so he has been able to donate more and more with Villa also helping out.
He explained: “With Villa I have an academy in Senegal with my sister and Villa is trying to help to give football kits and equipment. It is a big thing for me, it means a lot.
“I can’t put a number on it (the money) but I’m just trying to impact as many lives as I can because that's what really matters to me.”
