Matt Maher: Quite the week for West Midlands duo Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham
It’s been quite the week for West Midlands footballers.
After Jack Grealish helped Manchester City complete their brilliant season by winning the Champions League, Jude Bellingham became the new darling of Real Madrid.
Should all go to plan in Spain, the kid from Stourbridge will eventually surpass his England team-mate from Solihull as the most expensive British player in history.
Though Bellingham doesn’t yet have the medals to match the transfer fee, at the age of just 19 there is plenty of time to fix that. Such has been his career trajectory, it only feels a matter of time before he is being discussed – as Grealish must surely be now – among the finest players the region has ever produced.
