Emiliano Martinez

There was no record-breaking clean sheet but the goalkeeper still had a big say in the win, saving from Chilwell late on. Deservedly voted player of the season by supporters.

Imposing 7

Ezri Konsa

Played at right-back for the second match running and found things a little tougher than at Tottenham due to Chelsea’s ability to stretch the play. Stuck to his task well though.

Focused 6

Kortney Hause

The centre-back has finished what individually has been a frustrating season on a high. Has been limited to just seven appearances due to injury but impressed in almost every one.

Impressive 8

Tyrone Mings

Villa’s defensive leader has finished the season strongly. Backed up a man-of-the-match performance at Tottenham with another determined showing here. Won several big headers late on.

Heart 7

Matt Targett

The only player along with Martinez to start all 38 Premier League matches, Target demonstrated precisely why he was voted player of the season by his team-mates. An excellent campaign.

Revelation 7

John McGinn

Another player who has finished a sometimes mixed season strongly. After 25 minutes under the cosh, it was the Scot who dragged Villa into the game with some crunching challenges and determined runs.

Driving 7

Marvelous Nakamba

Struggled in the early stages as Villa’s midfield was overrun but just as at Tottenham he recovered strongly. Used the ball well and made countless interceptions and tackles.

Rock 7

Bertrand Traore

Looked eager to impress against his former club and fired Villa in front. Then brought down for the penalty from which El Ghazi struck the winner.

Classy 7

Jack Grealish

Completed 90 minutes for the first time in three months in front of Gareth Southgate. Typically at the centre of Villa’s best work in attack and delighted supporters with his skill and precision.

Talisman 7

Anwar El Ghazi

A busy performance from the Dutch winger which was rewarded with his 10th Premier League goal of the season and fourth from the penalty spot. A Villa career reborn over the last six months.

Work-rate 6

Ollie Watkins

Lacked service but never stopped working up front and it was his harrying of Thiago Silva which earned Villa the corner from which they took the lead. Can reflect on an excellent first Premier League season.

Relentless 6

Substitutes

Carney Chukwuemeka 6 (for Traore, 73), Jacob Ramsey (for El Ghazi, 79). Subs not used: Elmohamady, Taylor, Luiz, Philogene-Bidace, Davis, Wesley, Heaton (gk).
