A run of just two wins in 11 matches has ended hopes of qualifying for Europe but a top half finish remains within reach for Dean Smith’s team.

Davis ended his long wait for a first Premier League goal when he netted a stoppage time leveller in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with the Baggies.

And the 23-year-old has promised Villa will keep battling over the season’s final six matches, starting with Saturday’s trip to Everton.

He said of his goal: “It was about time really! It means a lot. It has been a long time coming in the Premier League.

“It has been on my mind, as a striker it has to be. I did well coming on against Fulham a few games ago but to get the goal on Sunday means more.

“The gaffer has put in our heads that we need to keep going. We want to end the season how we started it. We will try and pick up as many points as we can and finish high as we can.”
