Emiliano Martinez

Confident, brave and composed throughout. Had very little to do, but what he was tasked with he did without fuss.

Did have an early scare but avoided a booking for handling outside his area. Could've brought a deck chair second half. 7

Matty Cash

Back into the side following his suspension and didn't miss a beat.

Some fantastic early link up with Traore caused all kinds of problems for Albion and he also provided some brilliant deliveries too.

Been an astute addition to the side. 7

Kortney Hause

Remained in the XI with Ezri Konsa still out.

Booked for a nasty challenge on Grady Diangana and lucky to avoid a red after a VAR check deemed the booking sufficient.

Did the rest of his work without issue. 6

Tyrone Mings

The better of Villa's two central defenders, but didn't have a whole lot to do in fairness.

Didn't give Karlan Grant a sniff. Did pick up a needless yellow card for catching Dara O'Shea which had him walking a tightrope afterwards. 7

Matt Targett

A solid, if unspectacular performance. Brave in the challenge, but also linked up well with Grealish and El Ghazi.

Did get caught out in possession once or twice. Offered an outlet going forward as Villa looked to settle the result, lacked a killer ball. 7

Douglas Luiz

Back from suspension and slotted in perfectly. Gave license for McGinn to saunter forward and was solid with his defensive work, although Albion didn't trouble him much.

Had more opportunities to go forward with Albion down to ten. 8

John McGinn

Some trademark bursts from midfield thanks to the insurance of Douglas Luiz behind him. Provided his normal endless supply of energy.

Was absolutely integral early on, everything good ran through him first half. Was quieter second half. 7

Jack Grealish

Some lovely link up with Traore throughout, controlled possession almost flawlessly. Popped up all over the park and was a thorn in Albion's side.

His threat bore fruit late on after Ajayi bundled him over for the penalty. 7

Bertrand Traore

Villa signed Traore to provide an attacking threat and boy did he provide it.

Put in a beauty of a ball for the opener, and then provided the cheekiest of finishes to make it 2-0.

Often runs hot and cold, but was searing hot this time. 9

Anwar El Ghazi

Got Villa off to the best possible start with his coolly taken early strike. Composed from the spot too Villa's third.

Seems to love playing at The Hawthorns, caused the hosts no end of problems all evening. 9

Ollie Watkins

Provided his usual hard work up front but was never supplied with a guilt-edged chance to take first half.

Brighter in the second half, saw a goal scratched off for another incredibly tight VAR offside decision. Not quite clicking in front of goal right now. 7
