Villa are considering a move for Bournemouth striker Josh King as efforts to bolster their forward line continue.

Bournemouth's Joshua King

Boss Dean Smith has turned attentions to King after missing out on his Cherries team-mate Callum Wilson, who completed a £20million move to Newcastle on Monday.

Norway international King has scored 48 goals since joining Bournemouth from Blackburn five years ago and his ability to play both centrally and out wide is of appeal.

The 28-year-old has just a year remaining on his contract and Villa are expected to make a bid of around £16m.

Smith’s efforts to strengthen his forward line have so far met with frustration with talks over a deal for Brentford’s Ollie Watkins proving tricky.

Villa also want another goalkeeper and are targeting Arsenal’s Emiliano Martinez. The 28-year-old is facing an uncertain future at the Emirates but the Gunners want to bring in a replacement before they sanction his departure.
