The Albion academy product, who joined Villa earlier this year following a six-month stint with Barcelona, was one of the club’s under-23 players invited to take part in sessions at Bodymoor Heath over recent weeks.

Tyriek Wright, Aaron Ramsey and James Clarke have also been involved in order to gain experience and provide back-up to Dean Smith’s senior players.

Villa stepped up preparations for the season’s resumption with a midweek double header against Leicester City.

The Midlands rivals played two matches, one at Villa Park and the other at the King Power Stadium, fielding different starting XIs in each.

Villa get the ball rolling on the Premier League’s restart when they host Sheffield United next Wednesday. Smith’s men can climb out of the relegation zone with a victory over the Blades.
