Gabriel Agbonlahor has grounds for Aston Villa concern

Former striker Gabby Agbonlahor fears Villa would be put at a serious disadvantage should the Premier League resume behind closed doors.

The most likely scenario for a resumption of the current campaign is for matches to take place without fans in the stadium. Agbonlahor believes that would hurt Villa’s hopes of avoiding the drop.

He said: “The only thing which scares me is the season being finished behind closed doors. To me, that is not fair.

“Villa played Chelsea away with a stadium full of Chelsea fans. Now they have to play Chelsea at home without 42,000 Villa fans who might be the key to getting a result.

“I went to the Watford game back in January and the fans got Villa the win. They stuck with them when they were 1-0 down and got them over the line.

“Fingers cross they can continue the season with fans in the stadium.”
