Aston Villa exit ePremier League Invitational tournament as John McGinn defeated
Aston Villa crashed out of the ePremier League Invitational tournament, with John McGinn losing 6-1 to Neal Maupay's Brighton.
Maupay, a regular on the FIFA 20 video game, was hailed as a clear favourite ahead of the encounter in the online tournament - with McGinn less experienced on the hit title.
The tournament, streamed online, will raise money for the #PlayersTogether initiative, which was created by Premier League players as a collective way of generating funds for the NHS.
The result means Villa exit the competition in the first round, and sees Brighton progress to the last 16.
Wolves received a bye into the last 16, with Diogo Jota representing the side against Wilfried Ndidi's Leicester side on Thursday April 23.
The semi-finals and final will be televised live on Sky Sports at 3pm on Saturday April 25.
