Aston Villa's John McGinn aims for mid-March return
Midfield ace John McGinn is targeting a mid-March return for Villa as he continues recovery from a fractured ankle.
The Scot has been sidelined since suffering the injury in late December, but is poised to return for a pivotal Premier League run-in as Villa fight against the drop.
Boss Dean Smith expects McGinn to be back ‘one or two weeks’ after the Carabao Cup final, which takes place on March 1.
Striker Keinan Davis is facing a fight to be fit for Wembley, after it was confirmed the striker will miss around two to three weeks with his latest hamstring injury.
The 21-year-old, who picked up the knock while playing for the club’s under-23s, will miss Premier League matches against Tottenham and Southampton.
In better news, defender Ezri Konsa is available for Sunday’s visit of Spurs, after shaking off the thigh strain which forced his early exit from Villa’s defeat at Bournemouth earlier this month.
