Aston Villa agree fee for Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba
Villa’s summer spending spree is set to continue after they agreed a fee with Club Brugge for midfielder Marvelous Nakamba.
The 25-year-old Zimbabwe international is now due to undergo a medical ahead of a switch, for a fee thought to be in excess of £11million.
Nakamba had been refusing to train with Brugge since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, in an attempt to force through a move.
An initial bid was rejected last month, in part because the Belgian club were unhappy with a clause in the deal which would have seen them take a player from Villa on loan.
Nakamba will become the second player to make the move from Brugge to Villa Park this summer following the £22million transfer of Brazilian striker Wesley.
The deal is dependent on the player receiving a work permit, though Villa are confident that will not be a problem.
Villa are also waiting on a work permit before completing a £15million swoop for Manchester City midfielder Douglas Luiz.
When both deals are done, it will take the clubs spending since promotion north of the £120million mark.
Boss Dean Smith remains keen to add a goalkeeper and striker before the transfer window closes a fortnight from now.
