Leeds striker Patrick Bamford is instead facing a two-match ban after being charged by the FA for deceiving the match officials and prompting El Ghazi’s dismissal.

The 23-year-old was shown a straight red card by referee Stuart Attwell when Bamford tumbled to the floor during the 22-man melee which followed Mateusz Klich’s controversial opener at Elland Road.

But TV replays subsequently showed El Ghazi had made no contact with his opponent and his red card, which carried a three-match suspension, has now been overturned by a three-person FA panel.

Bamford has now been charged after the panel deemed he had committed a “clear act of simulation."

Both clubs have been charged for failing to control their players in the aftermath of Klich’s goal, scored when Villa were expecting Leeds to put the ball out of play following an injury to Jonathan Kodjia.

But in a further boost for Villa, the FA have confirmed Conor Hourihane will face no further action after video emerged of an altercation with Klich.

The incident, not seen by the match officials, was reviewed by the panel but not deemed to be violent conduct.

Leeds and Villa have until 6pm on Friday to respond to the charge of failing to control their players.

It is the second time in two months Villa have been hit with such a charge. They were fined £5,000 following an incident in March's 1-0 derby win at Blues.

Bamford, who will miss the first leg of his team's play-off semi-final if the charge of deceiving an official is proven, has until 6pm on Wednesday to respond.

Sunday's game finished 1-1 after Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa instructed his team to allow Albert Adomah to score an equaliser for Villa, following the fury over Klich's goal.
