Aston Villa victory gets royal seal of approval from Prince William
Villa’s win over Cardiff received the royal seal of approval as the Duke of Cambridge watched the game from the stands.
Prince William, a life-long Villa fan, was present on Tuesday night to see Jack Grealish fire Steve Bruce’s team to a dramatic win courtesy of an unstoppable late volley.
The prince sat in the director’s alongside former Holte End favourite John Carew, his guest for the evening.
Bruce revealed how William had spoken to the players before the game, while the prince was also seen congratulating the manager on the victory after the final whistle.
Bruce joked: “The Duke came and picked the team! He said: 'We're English and we've got to beat the Welsh!'
“In all seriousness, it is great that the future king is a Villa fan.
“To be fair to him, he knows his stuff. He came in just before the team sheets went in, it was good to see him.
“We will certainly be giving him a ticket next week.”
