Steve Bruce’s side face Sheffield United tomorrow looking to register a fifth straight win in the Championship.

If they do it, it will be the first time since March 1998 Villa have won five league games in a row.

And Hourihane says the players know they have to be on top form every week to have a shot at finishing in the top two.

“Every game in the Championship is a big game,” he said. “You have to be bang at it in every game. We have won four in a row now and are going about our business the right way.

“There are good, experienced lads in the dressing room and it keeps everyone on their toes. It seems to be going well at the minute. But we can’t take our foot off the gas.

“We have to keep working hard and hopefully toward the end of the season we will get what everyone wants.

“Everyone knows our aim is the top two. It has been since the start of the year. Now we have Sheffield United and we have to ready because it is another big one.”
