James Chester wants Aston Villa to stay in the hunt
James Chester has called on Villa to ensure they remain in the promotion mix heading into New Year.
Tomorrow evening’s home clash with Sheffield United is the first of four games in ten days for Steve Bruce’s men, who currently sit fifth in the Championship.
Villa are set to be roared on by a bumper crowd, with the club opening the upper tier of the Trinity Road Stand for the first time.
Chester said: “It is always a great occasion to play in front of a full Villa Park. Games around Christmas always seem a bit more special.
“I think with the fixtures we’ve got, the time of year, it is important to stay in the mix. If you are there around Christmas it bodes well for the rest of the season.
"We are almost at the halfway point. The games we have got are all against teams in and around us. If we can pick up victories it will set us up well for the rest of the campaign.”
