Steve Bruce admits mistakes in Millwall draw
Villa boss Steve Bruce admitted he ‘got it wrong’ with his substitutions as they hung on for a 0-0 draw with Millwall.
Villa managed just one shot on target against the Lions and had Sam Johnstone to thank for several saves.
Bruce made his full quota of changes, but left second and third top scorers Conor Hourihane and Scott Hogan on the bench.
“To be honest, it was a struggle against a very decent Millwall side who put us under pressure,” said Bruce.
“We didn’t have enough control and found it difficult. We have to play better than that. Sam Johnstone was easily our best player and had to be, but I’m really disappointed with how we played.
“There’s no excuses for that. Overall, I got it wrong with my changes.”
Meanwhile, Bruce will be keeping a close eye on Chris Samba and Henri Lansbury. Both picked up what were thought to be hamstring injuries.
