Villa travel north to Deepdale aiming to build on a solid point from Sunday’s Second City derby at Blues.

Bruce’s team had to withstand a barrage at times during the clash at St Andrew’s and the boss expects to face similar against the Lilywhites.

“It will be the same as Sunday. Preston have had a good start and are a good side,” said the boss.

“They’re a bit similar to Blues, up-and-at-you. They will be difficult to beat. We know what to expect. It’s what the Championship is.

“It throws you different challenges. Preston will be a different challenge to what recently Fulham gave us, for example.”

Bruce is hoping Villa can continue a run which has seen them take 16 of the last 21 points available to climb into the top six. A 2-0 loss at Wolves earlier this month remains their only defeat in the last 11 league games.

“Everyone has a blip in the Championship, it’s inevitable. The key is how quickly you get out of it,” said Bruce.

“We hope we can find a consistency. We’ve certainly responded well. You can only get better.”
