The winless Trotters arrive at Villa Park tomorrow bottom of the table and on a seven-game losing streak.

Villa are by contrast are in unbeaten in seven and in buoyant mood after battering Burton 4-0 on Tuesday night, their third league win on the spin.

Yet while delighted at his team’s improving form, Bruce insists they will not be under-estimating their opponents.

“The one thing I can’t do is get carried away,” he said. “We have been excellent over the last two or three weeks but we must keep our feet on the ground and get ready for Bolton. Hopefully there is a big crowd. We have to make sure we are ready.

“It won’t be easy, just because we are at the bottom of the league. It will be a difficult game because that is what the Championship is.”

Having struggled for goals early in the campaign, Villa have now scored nine in their last three games.

Bruce believes the return of Jonathan Kodjia, who is yet to open his account to the campaign, has been a key factor.

“Kodjia is fit, that helps,” said Bruce. It is good to see him in the dressing room. It has enabled us to out two up the pitch and Keinan Davis has given us that focal point.”

“We haven’t been beaten in seven and I think that breeds confidence.”
