Villa outcast Ross McCormack has completed his loan move Down Under to Melbourne City.

The 31-year-old has joined the A-League club on a temporary deal.

McCormack has well down the pecking order at Villa Park after failing to seal a move away during the summer transfer window.

Villa boss Steve Bruce last week revealed the club received no firm offers for McCormack, who has made just two substitute appearances for Villa this season.

The manager hopes the Scot can use the move to Australia as a means to kickstart his career.

McCormack is set to complete the switch on Monday, subject to a medical.

“I’m here to do a job for the team, support my teammates, work hard for the manager and represent the club in the right manner,” said McCormack.

“Hopefully I can show the fans what I can offer the team and I’m very excited about being able to represent this city and its fans at a great club.”

McCormack has netted just three goals for Villa since a big money move from Fulham in August 2016 and had a high-profile falling out with Bruce.

The striker angered the Villa boss when he claimed he was not able to attend training, due to the gates to his house being stuck.

The former Rangers and Leeds hitman spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and though he returned to the fold for the start of pre-season, McCormack was unable to force his way back into Bruce’s plans.
