Steve Bruce: Time for Aston Villa run
Boss Steve Bruce has called on Villa to give their season increased momentum by beating Nottingham Forest tomorrow.
Villa are aiming to record back-to-back league wins for the first time this term when they host their Midlands rivals in a game being broadcast live by Sky Sports (kick-off 5.30pm).
Last Saturday’s 3-0 win at Barnsley has eased some of the pressure which had been building on Bruce after a run of three consecutive draws, and Villa are now five games unbeaten in the Championship.
But the boss knows the importance of picking up regular wins if his team are to continue climbing the table.
Villa are currently 13th in the standings and Bruce said: “I think the supporters can all see we have the makings of a very decent team. It’s important we now start putting these results together and go on a bit of a run.
“With the squad we have, we are certainly capable of doing that. Hopefully we can build on last Saturday’s result and use it to start gathering a bit of momentum.”
