The 29-year-old has failed to make an impact at West Ham since joining the club in January from Hull, and is due to leave before the transfer deadline passes.

It's reported that the winger will head to Villa today to undergo a medical ahead of a season-long loan deal, with an option to buy.

Steve Bruce previously confirmed his interest in the Scot, who he worked with during his time at Hull, stating that he'd bring 'sparkle' to the Championship hopefuls.

“I have had the pleasure of working with him at Hull and all the things you talk about, quality and experience, he has in abundance,” he said.

“He has been there and worn the T-shirt. It hasn’t quite worked out for him at West Ham. We are trying our best to get it over the line.

It's thought that Sunderland and Birmingham City were also interested, but Villa have reportedly won that race.
