Jordan Amavi leaves Aston Villa for Marseille
JORDAN AMAVI has completed his protracted move away from Villa by joining Marseille.
The Frenchman, who was snapped up from Nice in 2015, returns to his homeland after an injury blighted two years at Villa Park.
Amavi joined Villa for a fee in the region of £9million and became an instant hit with claret and blue supporters thanks to some impressive early performances.
But a knee injury sustained on international duty ended his first season with the club – with Villa then going onto be relegated from the Premier League later that year.
Since then the left-back has found it hard to hold down a regular place in the side.
The defender almost joined Spanish side Sevilla last month before a deal fell through at the last minute.
But now he has completed a move to Marseille after making 44 appearances in claret and blue.
Meanwhile, Leandro Bacuna is also on the verge of leaving Villa, manager Steve Bruce has confirmed.
The 25-year-old hs been with the club since 2013 and has scored eight goals in 129 appearances.
Reading are believed to be interested in the Dutch-born star with Bruce revealed a Championship club is keen.
“There’s a Championship club after Bacuna, that looks close to being over the line too,” he said.
