The 22-year-old made just ten appearances for the club last season after joining in a £5million move from Reading 12 months ago, ending a disappointing campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Villa’s capture of Glenn Whelan from Stoke earlier this month has pushed him further down the pecking order and Tshibola views his latest loan move as a chance to kickstart his career.

“I feel like this is the perfect place to be right now,” he said. “The important thing for me is to get back to enjoying my football, get playing again and try to do my best.

“I just can’t wait to get out on the pitch.”

Tshibola has become the fourth player to leave Villa this summer following the permanent exits of fellow midfielders Carlos Sanchez and Jordan Veretout, both to Fiorentina. Playmaker Carles Gil has meanwhile joined Spanish club Deportivo on loan.

Several more out-of-favour stars are expected to depart before the transfer window closes at the end of next month, with boss Steve Bruce eager to trim what is currently a bloated squad.

Full-back Aly Cissokho is on the brink of a move to Turkey and Malatyaspor, while Villa will also listen to offers for Ross McCormack, Tommy Elphick and Gary Gardner.
