Aston Villa name John Terry captain
Villa have confirmed John Terry will be captain for the 2017/18 season.
The 36-year-old replaces James Chester, who wore the armband for the second half of last season after taking over from Tommy Elphick.
Terry became Villa’s first signing of the summer when he signed a one-year deal earlier this month, after calling time on a 22-year career at Chelsea, where he skippered the club to five Premier League titles.
He also captained England during the 2010 World Cup and has now been tasked by Villa boss Steve Bruce with leading the club's promotion charge in the Championship.
The centre-back is set to make his debut for Villa in Saturday’s friendly at League One Shrewsbury Town.
