John Terry has joined Villa.

The former England captain completes his move following his Chelsea exit, ending a two-decade long relationship with the club.

Villa's owner, Dr Tony Xia effectively confirmed that a deal was in place for the 36-year-old this morning on Twitter - ahead of the club's official account.

Following that, Aston Villa revealed his signing in a text-style video, in which players old and new featured.

Speaking via Aston Villa's official website and YouTube channel, John Terry confirmed his delight at joining up with Steve Bruce at Villa Park:

"I am delighted to join Aston Villa."

“It’s a club I have admired from afar for many years – there are fantastic facilities at Bodymoor Heath, Villa Park is one of the finest stadiums in the country and there’s a good group of players here, with an experienced and successful manager in Steve Bruce.

“I can’t wait to get started now and look to help the squad achieve something special this season.”

"It's a new chapter in my life and my football career, but firstly delighted to be here and part of Aston Villa"

"It's strange, but listen, I'm signing for a new club, I've had 22 great years at Chelsea.

"It's time for a change for me, many great memories at Chelsea but I'm here to be part of a squad that can potentially go up this season with the ambition the same as mine, to compete at the very top and that's my aim this season."

"For me, getting a feel for the training ground, the club itself, I've obviously played here many times as well over the years.

"It's a huge club, looking around it's ready for the Premier League and deserves to be there.

"We've got a squad and management in place to go and do so, matching the same ambitions as myself to get back up competing against the very best and that's a big reason why I'm here.

"It's a club I've grown up with over the years, from a very young boy it's always been a top club and the last couple of years, a club where it shouldn't be - playing in the Championship, but this is where we are at the moment.

"I've had some good occasions over the years at Villa Park, a little bit of abuse along the way, but I'm hoping that they're [the fans] going to get behind myself and the team and really support us.

The defender joins on a one-year deal, reportedly worth £60,000 per week and heavily incentivised with bonuses that could be worth up to £4m. He joins as Steve Bruce's first summer signing.

Meanwhile, Villa will also have three games broadcast on live TV through August and September, with the opening day clash with Hull City live on Sky with a 5.30pm kick-off.

The club's Carabao Cup trip to Colchester on August 9th will be on Sky, and the Championship trip to Bristol City on August 25th will also be televised.
