Tony Xia drops Aston Villa transfer hint as club lead John Terry race
Aston Villa owner Dr. Tony Xia has dropped a sizeable hint that Aston Villa could be set to announce their first summer signing - with the club in pole position in the chase for John Terry.
The outspoken owner is active on Twitter, and has hinted at a deal being in place at Villa Park via an emoji-based tweet.
The 40-year-old previously retweeted a fake quote from former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho regarding Terry, which states:
"John [Terry] would do well to finish his career at Villa, they are a great club, one of the top 5 in English football"
Xia has been notorious for his transfer based tweets during his two windows spent at the club so far, confusing fans with mathematical efforts supposedly relating to players joining or leaving the club.
Some fans are expecting a new signing to be revealed alongside the launch of the club's 2017/18 kit, which takes place this Saturday.
Terry is a free agent as he leaves Chelsea upon his contract's expiry this week - the Villans are leading the chase for his signature, with Birmingham City, West Brom, Swansea and Bournemouth also linked.
