Aston Villa transfer news: Sevilla join race for Jordan Amavi
Sevilla have joined the chase for Villa’s Jordan Amavi as the race for the full-back-turned-winger hots up.
Reports in Spain suggest Sevilla have offered £5million for the 23-year-old Frenchman – but Villa are holding out for nearer the £9m they paid for the France under-21 international when they brought him in from Nice in 2015.
Amavi started well but suffered a season-ending knee ligament injury while on international duty early in his first season.
However, he fell out of favour under new boss Steve Bruce last season, with the boss preferring to use him in a wide midfield role following defensive mistakes while playing at left-back.
Bruce brought in left-back Neil Taylor from Swansea last season and is keen to move players out of Villa Park to allow him to bring in new players.
Amavi has previously been linked with a move back to his homeland with Marseille, as well as being courted by Sampdoria and Napoli in Italy’s Serie A.
