Aston Villa waiting on John Terry decision
Villa and Blues are facing late competition from Swansea as their battle for John Terry’s signature approaches its climax.
The 36-year-old defender is expected to make a decision on his future in the coming days after yesterday returning from a summer break in Portugal.
Though Villa and Blues had emerged as frontrunners over the the past week, Swans chairman Huw Jenkins yesterday confirmed their boss Paul Clement had spoken to Terry and his agent about a possible move to the Liberty Stadium.
Villa were installed as favourites with many bookmakers to sign the Chelsea legend after upping their offer, though Jenkins believes Blues remain very much in the frame.
“I don’t know what he wants out of his move and I’ve heard he is keen on going to Birmingham,” said Jenkins. “But Paul has had a conversation with John and his agent to see how things stand and we are waiting to hear back from them.”
