Boss Steve Bruce is eager for the 24-year-old to return to Villa Park, after he impressed while on loan at the Championship club during the second half of the season.

Johnstone is being courted by a number of clubs but Bruce hopes the promise of first-team football will be enough to convince the former Walsall loanee to choose Villa, with a return on loan the most likely option.

Watford, Leicester and Sunderland are all thought to have registered their interest in Johnstone, who signed a new deal at Old Trafford last October but is now fourth in the pecking order at the Premier League club behind Sergio Romero, Joel Pereira and No.1 David De Gea.

The young goalkeeper is expected to consider all options before making a decision, which is expected before the end of the month. Turkish outfit Goztepe have meanwhile been linked with a move for Libor Kozak following the striker’s exit from Villa at the end of last season.
